“He Ain’t Dead, But He’s Layin’ Mighty Low,” — Jimbo Mathus

Record plug, friends: Jimbo Mathus' White Buffalo, produced by Mr. Eric "Roscoe" Ambel, drops today. I scored a sneak listen and have had the refrain, "He ain't dead, but he's laying mighty low," stuck in my brain ever since (full disclosure: that's the chorus of the song "White Buffalo," but in my defense I didn't know it was a song about a damn buffalo when I flipped out for it.)

Here's another offering from the record, something folksy and catchy called "In The Garden."

White Buffalo is a fine listen. Jimbo is best known for being a member of the band the Squirrel Nut Zippers, but a buffalo better represents the size of his talent. And a white one's a rare and special thing.
